Music Birthday: John Travolta

🔊🥳Today, February 18, 1954, John Joseph Travolta was born in Englewood, New Jersey. As Edna Turnblad, from 2007s musical film “Hairspray,” Travolta performed several songs included on the Marc Shaiman-produced soundtrack, such as ‘Welcome to the 60’s,’ ‘(You’re) Timeless to Me,’ and the contagious ‘You Can’t Stop the Beat.’ “Hairspray: Soundtrack to the Motion Picture,” a Lucian Piane co-production, peaked at no. 2 on the US Billboard 200, and no. 1 on the Billboard Top Independent Albums Chart. By December 10, 2007, only five months after it’s release, Hairspray Soundtrack earned platinum certification from the RIAA.
