Music Birthday: Method Man

🔊🥳Today, March 2, 1971, Method Man was born Clifford M. Smith Jr., in Hempstead, New York. From his 1994 debut disc “Tical,” Method Man’s ‘All I Need’ paid homage to music legends—sampling Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell’s ‘You’re All I Need to Get By,’ Artie Christopher’s ‘Stoned Soul,’ and Melvin Bliss’s ‘Synthetic Substitution.’ RZA, original member of the Wu-Tang Clan, produced ‘All I Need,’ while Diddy handled the remix that featured MJB, the Queen of Hip-Hop and R&B.
