🔊🥳 Today, May 9, 1975, Tamia Hill was born Tamia Marilyn Washington Hill, in Ontario, Canada. Tamia, in 1996, received three Grammy Award nominations: Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals (‘Missing You’), Best Female R&B Vocal Performance (‘You Put a Move on My Heart’), and Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group (‘Slow Jamz’). The latter two songs come from Quincy Jones’ 1995 album, “Q’s Jook Joint” — a Grammy-winning jazz album. As for the Keith Thomas production ‘Missing You,’ also featuring Brandy, Chaka Khan, and Gladys Knight, comes from the New Line Cinema film, Set It Off.
