Today, September 12, 1944, Barry White was born Barry Eugene Carter in Galveston, Texas. Barry’s beautiful baritone blends amiably with those of El Debarge, James Ingram and Al B. Sure!, on Quincy Jones’ ‘The Secret Garden (Sweet Seduction Suite).’

The song was written by El Debarge, Quincy Jones, Siedah Garrett (also provided backing vocals), and Rod Temperton – the latter of which is responsible for writing Heatwave’s ‘Always and Forever.’ On the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart, ‘The Secret Garden (Sweet Seduction Suite)’ peaked at no. 31.
“Back on the Block,’ a 1969 album by Quincy Jones is where you can find ‘The Secret Garden (Sweet Seduction Suite).’ The song has since been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America, and so has “Back on the Block.”
On another note, the sweet soulful culture of this classic has been well-preserved in a recent cover by R&B singers Shawn Stockman, Omar Wilson, Sisqo and Raheem DeVaughn.
