Today, September 14, 1979, ‘After the Love Has Gone’ by Earth, Wind & Fire peaked at no. 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100. A production by Maurice White, co-written by David Foster, Jay Graydon, and Bill Champlin, this is without a doubt a classic soul song. 

Coming from the funk band’s ninth album “I Am,” ‘After the Love Has Gone’ is four minutes of a pure heart and soul, electrifying melodies, and well-balanced harmonies. The album also reached a position on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, peaking at no. 3 on July 13, 1979. 

‘After the Love Has Gone’ has been covered by heavy hitters such as Airplay, Mint Condition, 112, Donny Osmond, and Eric Benet just to mention a few. The song has since been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America, and it’s “I Am” parent is platinum.
