Today, November 17, 2020, Ariana Grande’s “Positions” went to no. 12 on the Australian iTunes Albums chart. This is Grande’s sixth studio album, and it beautifully expresses her growth as an artist, woman and divine feminine.
This late-night jam was originally released on October 30, 2020, and it debuted at no. 1 on both the US Billboard 200, and American iTunes Albums chart.
Another pleasantly grown and lyrically-potent album from Ariana Grande, “Positions” is her best feat yet. The straight-up ‘shut up’ opens the album, followed by the sensual ‘34+35,’ and then the catchy ‘motive’ Doja Cat collaboration. Grande gets cocky in my favorite track ‘just like magic,’ sharing sheer knowledge of self-love.
On the critical tip, The Weeknd joins Ariana Grande on the slow-burning ‘off the table,’ the only track I dislike – this type of vocal pairing is earsplitting. The song would’ve been easier to take-in with deeper male vocals, or better yet, no feature at all. Their ‘Love Me Harder’ collaboration was less nauseating.
Still, “Positions” is a future winner of several awards. Grande, with those prized pipes, shows more of her openness in ‘six thirty,’ ‘my hair,’ and ‘nasty.’ The latter two songs were co-written by Victoria Monet, much like ‘34+35,’ ‘love language,’ and ‘westside.’
