Ol’ Dirty Bastard: “Osirus: The Official Mixtape”

Today, January 4, 2005, Ol’ Dirty Bastard posthumously released his “Osirus” mixtape. This hip-hop album peaked at no. 157 on the US Billboard 200, and no. 9 on the Billboard Independent Albums Chart.

“Osirus” has the ‘Pop Shots’ song, a production by DJ Premier. The song samples ‘Shimmy Shimmy Ya’ by ODB, ‘Protect Ya Neck’ by Wu-Tang Clan, and ‘Les Ciads’ by Francios de Roubaix.

In 2009, Diamond District used a sample of ‘Pop Shots’ in his ‘Who I Be’ track, a song included on his acclaimed “In the Ruff” album.
