Today, February 11, 1974, D’Angelo was born Michael Eugene Archer in Richmond, Virginia. At the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards, D’Angelo’s “Voodoo” won Best R&B Album. “Voodoo,” released in January 2000, shared the category with incredible albums from Jill Scott, Sisqo, Toni Braxton, Joe, and Boyz II Men.

On the US Billboard 200, “Voodoo” peaked at no. 1, and enjoyed a 33-week chart run. This album is soulful, emotional, and so pleasing to the ear. It’s effortless harmonies come through clearly with high vibrations, and multi-instrumentalist D’Angelo shines as co-creator of every track.
Also a Grammy-winner, track 12, ‘Untitled (How Does It Feel)’ won the Best Male R&B Vocal Performance category, beating out Joe, R. Kelly, Sisqo, and Brian McKnight.
In March 2000, the Recording Industry Association of America certified “Voodoo” platinum.
